Patrick  “Roach” Samuels was born on the twelfth day of December 1966 to parents Millicent Morgan and Trevor Samuels. He grew up in an inner city community called “Southside” in Kingston, Jamaica. He was the eldest of five children. He attended Ombsy Hall Basic School then onto Saint Michael Primary in Kingston. After graduating He went to Calabar All Age, He then decided that He wanted to go to work instead of going to college. Before finding a job, he got his son, Jermaine Samuels at age 21, he didn’t make that stop him from working instead, and it pushed him more. It encouraged and motivated him. With that said, he went to work at the Cement Company out by Rock fort in Kingston. He wasn’t placed in the best position but he worked hard until finally  he was offered a position as an assistant to the Mechanical Engineers. He worked there for ten years but daily he would visit Arrows Studio on Windward Road to listen and mix music for his mix tape business since it was so near to his work place. At the studio he encountered with Rodney “Bounty Killer” Price who then introduce him to Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer.

After getting to know Kartel they became close until he became his road manager and he promoted his career for a period of time. During that time, (about eleven years after his first son) at age 32 he got his first daughter, second child, Sameka Samuels in June and in that very same year, the following September he got his second daughter Semouna Samuels. Two years later he got his next son; Damoy Samuels at age 34. With four children he was motivated even more to thrive and soar higher. By keeping his head in the game and his alliance with Vybz Kartel he came out with his very first project the “Siren Riddim” it made headlines and led to his popularity and gave him international recognition. Siren Riddim featured Sean Paul’s international hit “Break out” and Kartel’s “Emergency.” The riddim was released on the Time Travel Label. After all of this his name “Roach” which he got from his friends at a youth club after playing a role of a doctor “Doctor Roach” in a play, got more recognition.

After transferring from Time Travel he met Jutus Arison whom he had known for many years while living at 2 Montgomery Way, Stony Hill. They decided to form a partnership since they were both passionate about building riddims, writing songs and making music. Shortly after, he got his third daughter Patrina Samuels at age 39 and then 2 years later he got his fourth daughter Hailey Samuels at age 41. The duo first project was the remix of a song from Gyptian entitled “Reggae Rock Star” which was never release. Their second project was the “Jinx Riddim” which featured Sizzla “Love Jah” and Munga “Hey Girl” in which both of them were released. Following up the Jinx Riddim was the “Overproof Riddim” which was a huge success. That year for him was one he would never forget, his two daughters Sameka and Semouna past their G.S.A.T Examination. Sameka or Sami as what he would call her past for a very prestigious educational institution; Wolmer’s High School for Girls, while Semouna or alias Angel also past for Windward Road Junior High School. He was so astonished yet elated about it even though he knew they could do it. Two years later his son, Damoy past for Saint Georges College making him even prouder.

From there he and Jutus worked on many other projects including, the following: Rum fire, Blessings Riddim, Afterlife and Overdrive Riddim. After producing top riddims with several hits back to back that he had encountered with various artists such as: Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, Sean Paul, Navino, Tifa, Agent Saco, Christopher Martin, Konshens, I-Octane, Vega, Elephant Man, Allison Hinds, Khago, Craigist, Wyane Marshall, Beenie Man, Gage, Etana, Lady Saw, Shurwayne Winchester, Villianaire, Daniel Beddingfield, Mavado, Aidonia, RDX and to name a few. He really had a passion for music. Music was him, it was his life, and he decided to further his career by taking it to the next level and start his very own business again and so Roach ventured from Time Travel to JA Productions to ”Patron House Production”, and shortly after, he was tragically murdered.
